WASHWOOD HEATH ACADEMY
MENTORING & PARENT WORKSHOPS
Chantell is a fantastic mentor who has a great rapport with both pupils and staff. She has provided one-to-one mentoring with pupils with a range of emotional and behavioural needs and supported them to understand their feelings and behaviours. She has also led on parent workshops, giving information and support about gangs and knife crime. The feedback we had from those sessions was extremely positive and the parents have asked for more sessions.

Death and Bereavement
Chantell delivers a very sensitive workshop which shows students a variety of ways they can reflect and remember positively and strategies they can use to reduce the pain of grief. Really helpful advice, with opportunities to work together supportively to lessen the stress of a demanding workshop.

Consent, Rape and Harassment
Based on personal experience and very cleverly delivered, engaging students in the story and building to a shocking revelation. Students are challenged to consider choices and given numerous opportunities to contribute. A stimulating workshop that makes students realise this could happen to anyone, as well as analysing their own and their peers’ behaviour and providing strategies to stop inappropriate interaction.

FGM
A challenging topic delivered in a sensitive manner, putting the practice clearly into context in a religious and cultural manner, highlighting the seriousness and potential consequences, without causing students too much upset.
